Hayley Lander is a visual artist working within the field of painting and installation art. An enduring fascination with organised nature shapes her approach to the Australian landscape. Broken bricks, fragments of concrete, a branch of a gum tree, scattered leaves; all form a quiet narrative of place. Delicate balances between objects articulate the fragility of our ecosystem as species move toward their tipping points of endurance.
Hayley Lander has been showing across Australia as an emerging artist after graduating from Honours at the Australian National University School of Art in 2014. She was selected as a finalist for both the Hatched National Graduate Exhibition (2015) in Perth and the Macquarie Group Emerging Artist Prize (2015) in Sydney. Hayley was recently selected as the Emerging Artist category winner of the Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize (2018).
